Camilla Rosemary Shand and Charles Philip Arthur George first met in mid-1971 at the home of a mutual friend, Lucía Santa Cruz, and later socialised at polo matches. They dated in the early 1970s but each married other people: Camilla to Andrew Parker Bowles in 1973 and Charles to Diana Spencer in 1981. Their relationship resumed during the 1980s and, after both had later divorced, their engagement was announced on 10 February 2005 and they married on 9 April 2005. They have no children together, and Camilla later became Queen Consort as Charles acceded to the throne.
